Is it snowing (here) yet?

Killington on November 6, 2010

I can’t believe how fast the days are flying by. I’m pretty sure I was just writing the intro post to this blog yesterday, but apparently not. If I’m counting right, there’s something like 78 days left between me and this adventure. There’s also 49 days until a few ski areas will attempt to open, and maybe… just maybe about 20-30 days until some very early season riding (Sunday River opened October 22nd last year) and I was at Killington November 6th last year. I’ll just sum it up with this: AHHHHHHHHH!!!!! IT’S ALMOST HERE!!!!!

In other news, turns out there’s over 80 ski areas in New England (55+ in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, rest are in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut), so I’m changing up the adventure a bit. I’m going to attempt to visit all ski areas within 3 hours (with some exceptions) that have more than a 500′ vertical drop and over 15 trails. That puts me around 40 ski areas (in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts). The other 40 will be a goal for the rest of the season and following seasons, but one way or another I will eventually snowboard (or pathetically ski with lessons) at every place in New England – even the ones with one trail and a tow rope.

Hmm… other excitement? There will be some awesome interviews coming up soon, but I want to know what other snowboarders, skiers, travelers, and families out there want to know. Seriously – anything?

Final bit of news is a call for equipment you aren’t using (yep, that was the previous post). I know you’re resisting putting away summer for good, but for the love of charity (and making up an excuse to justify buying some awesome new stuff) – go through your winter gear, and see if there’s anything you aren’t using. The sNOw Boundaries Project will be utterly grateful, and I will too. =)

    • It’s coming next weekend no matter what! I had hoped to head to Killington, VT yesterday, but the lovely storm kind of killed the ability to get out of the area!
